A Scary Sad Time in Alabama

For any friends and family who are wondering, we are all doing fine. The weather brought to our doorstep on Friday morning and night was horrific. I have never been so scared. Ask my mom, I am known for sleeping through Hurricanes, but this was completely different. We were very lucky to have zero damage and keep our power throughout, something that can't be said for everyone. The death and destruction left by this storm is unreal. We were watching live as the tornado tore through Tuscaloosa and we could hardly believe it. Then we heard it was heading straight for us and my stress meeter sky rocketed. Thank goodness John has such a level head during these types of events. It is truly a blessing that we were spared the wrath of this storm. As it was going over us, we were all huddled together, in a safe corner, praying. Again, the SCARIEST thing I have ever experienced. Please keep the people of Alabama and other southern states in your thoughts and prayers. It is going to be a long road of recovery.

An Easter Fun Weekend

This past weekend has been a blast! We really enjoyed the good weather and spending time with friends and family. I have no intention of making this post to wordy, as I am tired, so please enjoy the pics I just edited.

Below: Delilah eating Daddy's ear of corn. I think we have found her new favorite food.

Below: Delilah searching for eggs on Saturday. She wasn't really all that interested.

Below: Delilah's Easter basket. Mr. EB brought her some art supplies. (Daddy will be building her an easel when he is feeling better.)

Below: Using her new Window crayons. I couldn't decide who had more fun, me or her. Fun times!

Below: Can't remember if I told you, but Betty's baby birds flew the coop. When the other nest fell, I didn't want it to go to waist so I donated it to Betty. Apparently she liked it, cause little miss fertile laid two more eggs. Looks like we will have more baby birds soon.

So Sad

As many of you read a couple of posts ago, we had a bird make her nest on our porch. Apparently we have a very appealing house. Another bird decided to make her nest on my front door wreath. No joke! I think she liked that it was made of branches. Unfortunately for her, I used a suction cup wreath holder. I'm not sure if it was due to the recent bad weather, the weight of her nest, or the dirt she had unwittingly jammed under a part of the suction, but the wreath, nest and suction cup had fallen off the door this morning. I opened the door to find this:

It was very sad to see, especially those beautiful blue eggs smashed. I wish I would have thought to grab a picture of the nest before it took it's tumble. I bet the eggs laying perfectly in their nest would have made for a beautiful picture. So very sad.

Botanical Gardens

Today has been a great day. After spending all of last week/weekend cooped up in the house (due to illness), we finally returned to our routine. First up, Kindermusik. Delilah was super excited to see all her friends again. She happily participated in all the activities. I love seeing my girl happy.

When Kindermusik was over I wasn't quite ready to go home, so we headed to the Botanical Gardens. This was my first visit to the gardens and I was very pleased. It is such a nice, peaceful place to let Delilah stretch her legs. She loves to just walk. When we go to parks she has no interest in playing on equipment, she just wants to walk. The gardens was the perfect place for walking, especially when there are no chances of walking in front of the swings.

I did have my camera on hand and was able to get a few photos. I plan on doing this more often, so hopefully I can improve on my photography skills and actually get more than 2 or 3 good ones.

Time to play: CATCH UP

I've been meaning to post for a while now, but have had zero motivation to do so. I have finally gotten my mojo back and did some photo editing. This will be a photo heavy post (which I know you all love).

A couple of weekends ago, we took a trip to Florida for my little brothers wedding. Delilah was the Flower Girl. I am certainly being bias when I say she was the cutest flower girl I have ever seen! Oh, and my nephews in their little tuxes were almost edible with their cuteness! I didn't manage to get as many (or as good quality) photos as I would have liked, but I did manage to snag a few decent ones. ***John and I were too busy chasing kids to actually take pictures, so any of you out there who did snag some good ones I would love to have them.***

She is looking at hand cleanser and signing "wash hands". She is so hygienic!

The two photos above are right after she was dressed. It was tough to get her to stand still.

Play Time

Surprisingly, she didn't get a speck of dirt on her dress!

Her Marilyn moment. It was quite windy that day.

Enjoying the playground at the Reception site.

Climbing the hill back up to the reception.

As you can probably tell, Delilah was very busy that day. She wore herself out, but had a blast doing it.

A couple of days after we returned from Florida's, the Unfried's (in-laws) came for a visit. Pops (Delilah's name for Bob, which she does say!) brought her a very special gift. A hand built sandbox. This isn't your normal sandbox. When John was a little boy, Bob had made one for him. He still had it and used the legs from that sandbox to make Delilah's. She absolutely loves it! She would spend all day playing in it if she could.

Not really Delilah related, but I thought I would share with you a little about our new tenants. You see, I have a hanging plant basket on my front porch. I have never actually put plants in it. A bird decided to take up residency in said basket. I named her Betty. Betty was always watchful when I would open windows and go out on the front porch. She would hunker down and not move a muscle. Well, it seems she was guarding her eggs. Last weekend her baby birds hatched. I was finally able to get some decent shots through my window. You will notice the evil eye she gives me. Such a good momma bird.

You can barely see one of the chicks. I think she was feeding them.

The new little family. It's amazing how ugly, yet cute, those chicks are.

Well, that's it for today. Hope you enjoy the remainder of your Sunday!
