Walking

The post I loaded yesterday didn't work quite right. I tried to upload a video of Delilah walking in the Pediatricians office. It was from my phone and apparently the video didn't upload, so I deleted that post and will now show you two short video clips taken today.

**Please note that her pants are too big, so she is showing her undies (aka Diaper). I plan to correct this soon (by adding an elastic waist or making a belt) and teach her that showing her unmentionables in unladylike. There will be no saggy pants in her future.**

She is very good at walking. She is doing it constantly. She only crawls when there are things in her way, she is too tired to walk, or she needs to get somewhere super fast. She is such a superstar!

Some Thoughts

As this year comes to a close, and the new year approaches, I begin to think about things I want to do, my resolutions so to speak. Of course there are the frivolous ones, like making it a point to dress nicer. In other words, get out of my PJ's. There are some days (ok, most days) where I change out of my PJ's, only to put on a new pair. Comfy and practical, but it tends to leave me feeling frumpy. I'm tired of feeling frumpy, so it's time to put on some real clothes. (I realize that I am typing this while in my PJ's.)

Besides the frivolous resolutions, I have been thinking about some things that will help others, particularly those in the PWS community. I really want to do some heavy fundraising. If there is one wish I have for my life, it is to see a cure for PWS. This can only be achieved by raising money for research.

I also want to do something special for families as they are newly diagnosed. I remember feeling so alone and overwhelmed when we first learned about Delilah's diagnosis, even with all the support of my family and friends. I felt like no one really knew what we were going through. Then I found the PWS community on Facebook and Yahoo Groups. Without this community I would be lost. I haven't met any of these wonderful people in person and sometimes I don't participate as much as I would like, but I feel like we are a family.

So, I was thinking about trying to make a blanket or baby quilt for those newly diagnosed. Something special they could cuddle up with and know that they are not alone. We are all in this together. I'm not entirely sure how to make this possible. This has been on my mind for a while, so I really want to do it. I just have to figure out all the logistics. Mainly a way to get the materials needed without breaking the bank. Any suggestions? Is this even a possibility? My idea may be too big to achieve. I would love to know what you all think.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas day is almost over, but the memories will last a life time! We truly had a wonderful Christmas! John's parents and brothers are in town to celebrate with us. Delilah is loving all the attention and has grown quite attached to 'Pops' (John's Dad). We may not let him leave!

Opening all the presents proved to be as chaotic as expected, but a lot of fun. Just take a look at the photo below. Craziness! Delilah wasn't too interested in opening anything, but she was happy to play with all her new toys. I think she may have been a bit overwhelmed.

I could go on forever, but instead of boring you with words, I will give you what you want. Pictures! Enjoy!

White Christmas! It even stuck!

She decided it was her new chair, not a bed for baby.

I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas as much as we did! Now it's time for some much needed rest!

Decorating Cookies

Yesterday I started my holiday baking. I managed to get the sugar cookies baked during Delilah's nap, but due to some Mommy neediness (she throws major fits if I leave the room, even while playing with daddy), I had to wait until she went to bed to make the fudge and snickerdoodles. I still have to make some chocolate covered pretzels and the Muddy Buddies Chex Mix.

Anyhow, while John was giving D a bath, I was able to get some of the sugar cookies iced. (Note the 'some' in that sentence. John had to finish as Delilah wouldn't let me leave her sight.) We then let her help sprinkle a small cookie and have a special treat. Decorating sugar cookies has always been a fun Christmas tradition in my family and I want to carry that on with my child(ren). I know that in the future, PWS may make this more difficult, if not impossible, but we will cross that bridge when we get there.

As expected, Delilah could have cared less about adding the sprinkles. She just wanted to eat the cookie. I can't blame her, they are pretty good, and she rarely gets cookies! Here are some pics of the process and some of the finished cookies. Enjoy!

And because the next few days will be filled with family and fun, I probably won't be updating the blog until after Christmas. We hope you have a Merry Christmas!

Poor Baby

We have all been under the weather lately. Delilah isn't too sick, just a runny nose, but it seems to have taken it's tole on her this morning. I went to the kitchen to grab a drink and when I came back up to the living room I found this:

She was passed out on the floor. Poor little thing! She woke up about 30 minutes later, feeling refreshed and ready to play. A little cat nap can do wonders!

Some Early Christmas

We have had quite a week. Monday evening my sister, Conni, brother in law, Adam and two nephews, Logan and Wyatt, spent the night with us, on their way to Tennessee. It is always fun getting the kids together. We let them open their presents. I was hoping Delilah would have more interest in the opening this year, but she could have cared less. She did love her Princess Tea Set though, especially the forks and spoons. The funniest part was little Wyatt. We got him a Little Peoples Airplane, one of the coolest toys! (Seriously, I want one!) Did he want to play with it? Nope. He wanted the tea set. He and Delilah sat on the floor playing with that tea set the rest of the night. It was stinkin' cute. I took some pictures, but due to poor lighting they came out a bit fuzzy. Here are the only OK ones.

Wednesday morning I woke up to a tweaked neck. I couldn't turn my head a fraction of an inch, much less get up and walk around. Thankfully, John was able to take off work and take care of me and Delilah. I was able to finally start moving it around mid day, but it still is a bit sore. Not sure what it's deal is, but hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Thursday morning we all woke up sick. Lucky us! I was suffering from a severe sore throat, John just had what we like to call the 'crud', and poor Delilah is suffering through a nasty, runny nose and congestion. Thankfully no fever. She is a bit crankier around nap and bed time, as expected, but she has been pretty happy the majority of the time. She is not a big fan of us wiping her nose, but what baby is?! Luckily by Friday, my throat was clearing up. John and Delilah seem to still be the same, but I think Delilah's is slowly getting better.

On Friday night we had a few of our friends over for dinner to celebrate the holidays. Very low key. Just some good food, good wine, and great friends. We really had a good time sitting around the table and chatting. We definitely need to do that more often!

Brad and Jenn, Delilah's godparents, brought her Christmas Present with them. One of the biggest boxes I have seen! Of course, Delilah didn't care about opening it, but once it was out of the box she was super excited. She now has her very own, toddler sized, upholstered rocking chair. Let me tell you, it is the cutest darn chair I have ever seen, and super soft to boot. It is covered with a minky type fabric in pink with white polka dots. Perfect for our little princess. Once our Christmas tree is put away I will be turning that corner into a little reading/play nook for Delilah. Here are the pics from last night. (Same fuzzy issues.)

She is in love with her chair. The following pictures are from this morning and after her bath this evening.

Thank you so much Brad and Jenn! We have a very happy little girl!

Oh, and before I forget. Delilah's walking is getting better and better every day. She can walk the entire length of the living room. Personally, I think she could do it all the time if she wanted to, but she knows it's faster to crawl.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!
